Reflections

Tuesday, December 29th, 2009

At the end of every year, I like to reflect on changes, remember fun moments,  adventures, and imagine what the new year will bring.

I’m really happy that I started this blog. Now, photos are no longer stored idly away. Same goes for random ideas that run wild inside my head. They are better off released into the wild.

Next year, I’m thinking about climbing a mountain. Well, a metaphorical mountain. A  girl has got to have big dreams and small ones, too. Don’t you think?

What was the best part of your year?

————————————————————————–

The best part of my year include:

Sky diving(!) with 6 wild, wonderful, and weautiful women

Visiting Jee (left) and Carole (camerawoman) in San Francisco with Tammy (middle). I discovered my fear of seagulls.

Taking random pictures with strangers

Participating in the Seattle AIDS Walk

Surprise

Surprising Tammy to a Masquerade Ball for her birthday and blind-folding her enroute

Dressing up as Uno Cards for Halloween

What are you looking forward to next year?

12 Yellow Roses

Monday, December 28th, 2009

I had a terrible day. I tried to cheer myself up by: people watching, blowing bubbles, etc. But nothing worked.

In my quest to find yummy cheerful snacks at the grocery store, I was greeted by beautiful yellow roses. “That’s it,” I thought. “Those will make me happy!”

A Dozen Yellow Roses

Yet, I decided against flowers for myself this time. I had a better idea.

First Car

Yellow Rose #1

I bought 12 yellow roses and wrote nice notes on flower cards. Then, I drove around the city and left a rose and note on random cars, vans, trucks, and even a scooter.

Last Car

Yellow Rose #12: You can't see it here but the bumper sticker said "Arrrg....goes the pirate." How cute is that?!

Yellow Rose #12: I thought it was fitting to leave the last one here.

This adventure ended a terrible day and made a happy night!

Sorry about the quality of the images, I had to go stealth mode and use my camera phone instead.

The Best Part of the Holidays

Saturday, December 26th, 2009

I hope you had a great holiday! Whatever your traditions or celebrations, I surely hope it was special and full of joy. If you’re curious about mine…

A Filipino Holiday. After going to Misa de Gallo on Christmas Eve, my family celebrates nochebuena, literally ‘good night‘. What does a ‘good night’ include? Lots of delicious Filipino food at midnight! We stuff our bellies–as big as the only old fat-bellied guy who gets away with calling people Ho, Ho, Hos without getting socked in the face. Then, we open presents right after we eat! Really early on Christmas Day for us is the part we call “aguinaldo,” leading me to extrapolate on the title of this post…

New toy

My nephew and his new toy.

The best part about Christmas this year...was seeing my nephew’s face light up as he unwrapped a long awaited present, a lightsaber! I made sure the one I got him made the infamous sound effect.

Lightsaber fights light trails. We had a Star Wars style sword fight. I think I’m getting too old for it. So, what did I do to weaken my opponent? Direct him in a series of light trail photos! In the end, he was quite amazed to see what he created!!!

Depending on your camera, you too can create your own light trails! It mainly depends if you can manually set your Shutter speed. Check out this very helpful blog post on light trails: http://digital-photography-school.com/how-to-shoot-light-trails

Mr. Limey

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

I made this one when I was out with my mom at a Filipino restaurant.  The whole time I was making this, she was simply shaking her head. Good thing I’m an adult and she can’t tell me what to do anymore. Heeeheee.

It’s Snow Time!

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

It was so great watching kids and grown-ups take a break from their holiday shopping to play in the ‘snow’ last weekend.

This week, after a long day at work, I was really wishing for snow. Then it started to…

Playing in the snow was such a great way to relax and Winnie the Pooh thought so too!
