9 Fun Ideas When It Rains
Sunday, November 22nd, 2009Between my work computer, my laptop, my phone, and the tv–I work and play with technology, constantly. Here are ways to mix things up.
- Play taste testing. Blind fold some friends and have them guess what is what. Pre-mix things, like: coffee + ketchup + lime, soy sauce + basil + mayo, or whatever you have in the kitchen. Reward good guesses with more items and antacid.
- Become ambidextrous. For what? Well, you can for example, write prank letters to your friends or family without worry that they will recognize your penmanship
- Write a surprise thank you note. Give thanks, props, credit, etc to those who have done you right in the past. Notice how good it feels to give thanks. This is also good to do on any weather.
- Do some rain cleaning. Gather all the clothes you haven’t worn in 9 months. If you must try them on and play dress up. Then, let go. Next step, donate! (There may be a donation drop box near you or you can go your nearest Goodwill.)
- Write your life story. And make a home-made book out of it, with illustrations!
- Mock the TV. Write a short monologue or make up a story and act it out. I did this once for drama class in middle school in front of my class with a video tape to prove it
- Decorate your ultimate sock puppet. Use old button for the eyes or whatever you have around.
- Build a fort. When someone asks you if you want to help build a fort say, “YES!” Remember to dress up and decorate!
What are the things you enjoy when it’s raining?

Saturday, November 14th, 2009Early this week I noticed that hospitals still have a sense of humor. Ironic because navigating around was like performing heart surgery.
Mom went in to have surgery for a fracture on her foot. The gross part has been blurred out of your memory
Pink Flame took care of her, too.
Santa came early to drop off this stocking to keep her toes warm but alas it did not fit. At least it got a chuckle out of her.

The Garden of Remembrance (more info or view map), located on 2nd Avenue and University Street in Seattle, is one of those places you’d innocently pass by without a second look, as it is tucked neatly behind Benaroya Hall. Inscribed–along with more than 7,500 names–are snippets from letters written by the deceased and survivors. This place is a great place to visit any time of year. What are you waiting for?!

PS. The toy soldier image is obviously a pictorial adage. View more images, here.
Dharma & Greg
Monday, November 9th, 2009While in high school, yeah eons ago, my dear Tammy…
…told me about Dharma & Greg (read more on wiki). She mentioned the ‘sode when Dharma drives a bunch of strangers around town on a yellow school bus (?). Yeah, I don’t know what that’s about but I guess I’ll find out eventually. I’m half-way through the first season and I’m in love this show!
It’s filled with fun, wackiness, compassion, wit, and so much love! Did I fail to mention it’s really funny? Dharma & Greg are such an amazing you-wouldn’t-believe-they-got-married-on-their-first-date couple. And their families, are as much of a hoot! Oh and I won’t forget to mention her antics with her friend Jane Deaux! Playing German tourists while shopping, Jah!
One sad portion in this post is: Season One seems to be the only reasonably-available set online. Because Season 2 is on sale for, get this….$11,536.71. Don’t believe me? See for yourself on Amazon. But I guess that just means I get to really soak in this first batch.
Lastly, Chuck Lorre the co-creator leaves these awesome vanity cards which can only be read by people who recorded this on their VCR back in the day (yeah, the show is that old but never dated, in terms of relevance). But, now we can all enjoy his less than subliminal messages, here.
PS. Drive in movies rocks my socks off!

Saturday, November 7th, 2009Meet The Middles (Part2)
Wednesday, November 4th, 2009Last week we were introduced to The Middles family (view Part 1). Here we conclude the story.
For a long while, The Middles seemed to live in a lovely bubble. Then along came Mr. Thumb, their new neighbor, who changed everything.
There was a short courtship between Mr. Thumb and Mrs. Middle.
Their torrid affair lasted for months. Secretly, they met during their lunch breaks or whenever it was safe to.
As it happens in the movies, the husband comes home early to surprise his wife only to find…
“You bastard!” Mr. Middle enraged, nails Mr. Thumb on the head. More commotion. Wham. Bam. Punch. Thud. Bang. Mr. Thumb is dead.
Epilogue
Mrs. Middles–changed her name is back to Ms. Index–yet forever cannot hold her peace with deep regrets for breaking up her family. She recently rediscovered her love for traveling. Mr. Middle was convicted with a voluntary manslaughter. Being bitter for a long time, he finally discovered a way to help spread smiles to the outside world. When he got out of prison, he was benevolently well-known and eventually re-married a Ms. Toe.
After everything that happened, their two children grew up to be resilient, polished, and well adapted.
Ring finally got out of the dark teenage phase, graduated from Columbia University, became a successful lawyer, and was a strong proponent in the Diamonds Are Not That Rare Movement. She’s engaged to an American Football Player. She wears a ruby ring.
Pinky loves all things rainbow. He is living with the love of his life Todd in Queen Anne with a dog named Abba. Their hopes are riding high on better rights for gay couples. They also hope to adopt a child soon! His childhood passion for refrigerators led him to discover power-saving solutions for the rectangular beasts.
Now you’ve met The Middles!
